From high-speed battles to endurance tests, Bridgestone’s 2025 motorsport is off to a thrilling start. Across a diverse range of championships, our tyres continue to support drivers in pushing their limits on some of the world’s most iconic circuits.

Here are some of the key racing highlights from January to April 2025.

 


Super GT: A Strong Start

The 2025 SUPER GT season just kicked off with Round 1 at the Okayama International Circuit. 

Defending GT500 champions Sho Tsuboi and Kenta Yamashita secured yet another win with TGR TEAM au TOM’S, with fellow Bridgestone teams TGR TEAM ENEOS ROOKIE (driven by Kazuya Oshima and Nirei Fukuzumi) and TGR TEAM SARD (driven by Yuhi Sekiguchi and Sacha Fenestraz) rounding out the podium.

In the GT300 category, K2 R&D LEON RACING took home a decisive victory, piloted by Naoya Gamou and Togo Suganami.

 

Drivers praised the adaptability of Bridgestone’s compounds across changing track conditions, especially during the Okayama opener, where late-race tyre management proved decisive.

These early-season achievements reaffirm our status as the tyre of choice for champions in Japan’s premier racing series.


Bridgestone Toyota GR86 Cup New Zealand: Forging the Future of Motorsport

The Bridgestone Toyota GR86 Cup New Zealand delivered non-stop excitement over its final rounds at Highlands Motorsport Park, Hampton Downs, and Taupō International Motorsport Park. 

The series continues to be a proving ground for young and emerging drivers, with Bridgestone proudly supporting the growth of motorsport culture through the development of future racing talent.

With a focus on parity, tyre performance becomes a key differentiator, allowing standout talents like Hugo Allen, Hayden Bakkerus and Josh Bethune to showcase their racecraft. 

Ultimately, it was Allen who brought it home, securing his place on the top step of the championship.

Our RE-71RS consistency across cool, damp mornings and hot afternoon sessions has been central to close, competitive racing and thrilling finishes. It’s a series where driver skill and tyre feedback go hand in hand, and we continue to empower the next generation of rising stars.


SUPER TAIKYU: Conquering Endurance at Motegi and Beyond

Back for its 35th season, we returned for the second consecutive year as the exclusive tyre supplier to the SUPER TAIKYU series, Japan’s leading multi-class endurance championship.

Motegi played host to two four-hour endurance races, and our endurance-spec compounds performed flawlessly throughout these long stints, with teams praising the consistent grip and low degradation even during shifting weather conditions.

A standout performance was delivered by Seven x Seven Racing, who celebrated a debut victory in Race 2.

The #666 Porsche 911 GT3 R was driven by Hiroyuki Ogawa, Kiyoto Fujinami, Tsubasa Kondo, and Taichi Watarai, securing the win from pole position on the grid.


O-NE SuperRace Championship South Korea: Prius PHEV Class Kicks Off in Style

The 2025 O-NE SuperRace Championship debuted with high energy at Everland Speedway in Yongin on April 19–20, marking the start of an exciting season in the Prius PHEV class, Korea’s first plug-in hybrid one-make race.

Bridgestone continues its support for the class by supplying its street-legal circuit driving POTENZA RE-71RS tyres for the second consecutive year. POTENZA tyres are renowned for their precision, cornering stability, and track-ready performance.

Seventeen drivers lined up for the final on April 20, with Song Hyung-jin of Upper Speed clinching a commanding victory after leading from pole position. He clocked a winning time of 24:25.747 over 10 laps. The podium was rounded out by Kang Chang-won (Busan University of Science and Technology) and Lee Yul (Redcon Motorsport).

The next round will take place on May 25 at the Korea International Circuit in Yeongam, as drivers continue their battle for the season championship in this innovative and eco-conscious racing category.
