Some cars are used for simple tasks like the school or grocery run and live their lives as low-mileage family runabouts. That’s not the case with Keith’s workhorse, his KIA Sorento is also a regular tool to get him and his family across to Malaysia for road trips and holidays.

In fact, once borders opened up, Keith and his family immediately crossed over for a trip up north. Here, he shares with us some of his experiences and why he thinks Bridgestone tyres are the perfect companion for any family car.

First things first, care to share with our readers what you do for a living?

I’m a bit of a serial entrepreneur (smiles). I sold off a web development company I started years ago and am now the co-founder of a start-up called Zeemart, which is a B2B platform for F&B establishments and food suppliers.

Would you say you’re into cars?

I’m not a car enthusiast in the way that most people define a ‘car nut’, but I do appreciate cars. I own a vintage Volkswagen Beetle that is undergoing restoration now, aside from this KIA Sorento SUV.

Tell us more about the car, is it mainly a family workhorse?

The KIA Sorento is a 7-seater SUV and is really a great drives. It’s powered by a 2.2-litre turbocharged diesel engine which is both powerful yet economical. I can easily get 16km per litre of fuel in terms of mileage.

It serves mainly the household daily duties, while comfortably packing the whole family (with two dogs) for outings and road trips. On the weekends, it ferries the girls to and fro their classes and is also our tool for family road trips.

Speaking of road trips, do you travel up to Malaysia often?

Very much so, we drive quite regularly and did so immediately after the borders opened up. It’s a chance to spend time with the family and experience new places that Singapore can’t offer.

As a family man, you would know the importance of safety on-the-move, is that why you chose Bridgestone tyres?

Definitely. It’s common knowledge that tyres are the only thing that makes contact with the road for your car. So seeing that the whole family’s lives are in the ‘hands’ on the tyres, it’s very crucial that we don’t compromise on them.

What do you like about your Bridgestone ALENZA 001 tyres?

Apart from being really quite comfortable and grippy for all conditions that we use them in, I really appreciate the fact that they’re also very quiet.

Quietness is especially important for me because I love listening to my music, and the quieter the cabin, the better for me to enjoy the songs that are coming through my sound system (laughs). I understand they are also factory-fitted for many car brands.

I’d be happy to keep using these tyres even for my next change and will readily recommend them to any SUV owner!
